About this product
This new Pioneer DDJ-FLX4 is a 2-channel, 2-deck controller compatible with rekordbox and Serato. It features 16 pads, USB power, and a built-in sound card with 24-bit/44.1 kHz audio. Inputs include a mic input and 1/4" TS/TRS jacks; outputs include 3.5 mm TRS. The tabletop unit has a 1U rack height and a frequency response of 20-20000 Hz. Made in Japan, it offers plug-and-play setup. Priced at $320, it's an affordable entry-level controller for aspiring DJs looking for software flexibility.
Our take
The DDJ-FLX4 at $320 is a fantastic entry point. It's essentially the spiritual successor to the DDJ-400, but with Serato support out of the box. The build is lighter than I'd like—plastic everywhere—but it feels okay for the price. The jog wheels are smooth, and the pads are responsive. I love that it's USB powered, so no extra power brick. The mic input is handy, but the 3.5 mm output is limiting. For beginners or mobile DJs on a budget, it's hard to beat. You get dual software compatibility without breaking the bank.
